Robert C. Thornett explains the basics of Cartography. He discusses the art and science of maps and talks about important aspects. Some of the major features are: Scale, the difference between a Legend & a Key, a Compass Rose, a Cartouche plus Latitude / Longitude lines. Thornett also concentrates on the variety of maps, noting that they can be combined. Reference, topographic, cartogram, choropleth, thematic and political are all types we frequently see. Also, briefly discussed is GIS and remote sensing.
