Dr. Lonnie Thompson is a Distinguished University Professor in the School of Earth Sciences and a Senior Research Scientist in the Byrd Polar Research Center at the Ohio State University. He has published 165 papers. Dr. Thompson has received many awards including The Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement (2005) and The National Medal of Science (2005). With his wife, Dr. Ellen Mosley-Thompson, they share several more awards including the Benjamin Franklin Medal (2012).
