About Mike Vuolo

Mike Vuolo is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at The Ohio State University. I hold the following degrees from the University of Minnesota: a PhD in sociology (2009), an MS in statistics (2007), and an MS in Mathematics (2011). My research and teaching interests include crime, law, and deviance; health; employment; substance use; the life course; and statistics and methodology. Together with David Melamed, I am the editor of Sociological Methodology, the American Sociological Association’s official methods journal. I have been Principal Investigator on grants funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Fulbright Scholar Program. Publications appear in generalist sociology journals (e.g., American Journal of Sociology; Social Forces; Social Problems), sociology subfield journals (e.g., Criminology; Journal of Health and Social Behavior; Demography; Social Psychology Quarterly; Gender & Society; Sociological Methods & Research), and health journals across various domains (e.g., Addiction; American Journal of Psychiatry; American Journal of Preventive Medicine; American Journal of Public Health).
