This project is a collaboration between three school districts, a virtual school and faculty in the School of Educational Policy and Leadership, the School of Teaching and Learning and the Ohio Resource Center in the College of Education and Human Ecology at the Ohio State University. This collaborative will develop an Online Community of Practice (OCoP) that will prepare pre-service and in- service teachers to use ICT technologies to teach core content areas with a focus on middle school mathematics (See Appendix A) across schools in Columbus City Schools, Reynoldsburg City Schools, and Lima City Schools, in addition to the Virtual Community School of Ohio (http://www.vcslearn.org/). The results of this planning grant will have lasting impact on students’ use of ICTs in their learning by providing technology to participating schools, professional development to in-service teachers, and improving the preparation of pre-service teachers by 1) developing multimedia cases to be used in at least five (5) teacher education courses; 2) having pre-service teachers participate in the OCoP, and 3) redesigning the technology integration curriculum in multiple teacher education programs at OSU. The project will impact approximately 25 in-service teachers and 250 pre-service teachers in the first year.
