Discussion #4

Since entering college I have noticed the greatest change in my social life. I am not a very talkative or outgoing person naturally and so I have a bit of difficulty when meeting new people. Two of my best friends from high school go to a different college and so it felt like I was going to start over in making friends. In this aspect, I think living in the suite style of Lincoln Tower has been beneficial for me. Not only do I have one roommate that I share a living quarters with, I also have nine other suite mates that I live with in some capacity. I get along well with my suite mates and we do different things together like eating together, extracurriculars, watching movies, or just talking whether that be about course work and our majors, current events and different things in the world, or sports and our favorite teams from home. Already I have met new people in my classes, playing soccer on the turf fields, and playing basketball at the RPAC. Coming into college I was nervous if I would be able to form a friendship with anyone because I have a difficult time meeting new people, but now I know that I can meet new people and I have friends on campus that I can turn to in my life. No longer am I stressing the social aspect of talking to new people in college because I have proven to myself that I can do it.
