Week 6 Elements of Art and Principle

Line

Lines are points or shapes that are moving in a straight path.

 

Shape

Shapes are when there are elements that are flat and two dimensional .

 

Color

Color is the chromatic quality of an object.  This includes the hue of the object, in other words the color.

 

Value

Value is how light or dark an object is.

 

Form

Form is when an object has height, form and depth. The object is also three dimensional.

 

Texture

Texture is how the surface of an object looks and feels.

 

Space

Space is the area around an object. How much area an object takes up is its space.

 

Balance

Balance is when theres equal visual weight between two sides in an image. That there’s equilibrium visually in an image.

 

Contrast

Contrast is when the differences between two objects are emphasized. In this image here the difference in size and height are emphasized.

Emphasis

Emphasis is when something is accentuated. Like here to the color of the crane is blue in the middle and everything else is grey. so your eyes are drawn to it.

 

Movement

Movement is the path that is made by objects. The objects create a feeling that an action is happening.

 

Pattern

Pattern is when an element or object is repeated over and over.

 

Proportion

Proportion is the size and scaling of objects in relation to others.

 

Alignment

Alignment is the repetition of objects to form a line.

 

Unity

Unity is when the elements and objects of an image work well together. In other words the elements work in favor of each other.
