G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: I am currently taking a world geography class, in which I am learning about different cultures and current events each week. Last semester, I volunteered at ETSS, where I helped new immigrants learn English and job skills. This allowed me to learn more about the hardships that people face when moving to this country.

Original Inquiry: Next year, I hope to work in a research lab on campus. I want to learn more about behavioral neuroscience through this experience.

Academic Enrichment: I am currently a Neuroscience major on the pre-medicine track, which has been very challenging but I love it. I am a hard-working individual, and I am very proud of my success in all of my classes.

Leadership Development: I am a TA for General Chemistry here at OSU. I teach the lab section of the class to a group of students, and I am also responsible for grading their lab reports. This experience has really allowed me to grow as a leader and better my time management skills.

Service Engagement: I am going to begin volunteering at Riverside Methodist Hospital next month. This experience will get me more acquainted with being in a hospital setting. I am also going on a medical brigade to Honduras in May through Global Brigades. During this trip, we will be seeing local patients as well as improving the lives of the local people.

Artifacts

My artifact is the coffee mug that I received during the Neuroscience kick-off event at the beginning of the semester. This event solidified the fact that I am now a Neuroscience major at The Ohio State University. The mug reminds me that I am capable of all of the hard work that I will face in order to reach my academic goals.

I am a part of the Mount Leadership Society Scholars Program. I was involved in service in high school and am very excited to continue doing service. I also hope to become more involved at the university as this year progresses.
