Noises

I set my noise in a symetrical pattern based off the similarities of the noises. The objects heard were a washer machine, container of pretzels, a can, walking, tapping fingers, a fork, and a wrapper. I used these sounds because the are ones I hear almost everyday. I prefer to do visuial work and didn’t like the program we used. Its a very simple pattern that keeps borders between most of the sounds.

Texas Hold’em

This stop motion is of a game of Texas Hold’em between four shot glasses. They represent actual players but they only move when they are out of the game and at the end when they stack by order of losing. The cards and chips go through the most transformations though. I guess the message of this would be that only one person can come out on top. There’s the literal “on top” at the end.

GIF

The object for my GIF is my roommate because I wanted the GIF to be of a person moving. The GIF is of him sitting down at a table but I put the mosaic filter over each photo. Each one become clearer as the GIF cycles through. I think that this piece conveys  confusion to clarity. The subject of the GIF isn’t clear until the end. While watching it, things are too blurry to tell. It also reminds me of focusing in on something through a camera.

Miming the Web (Logic)

This picture is about idolizing  celebrity’s. All the pictures are only him, nobody else, and the top row of pictures are his album covers. The pictures also go from his first appearances as a celebrity to present day. It shows how easy it is to find endless pictures of people that are celebrity’s. Its weird to compare it to ourselves because if you search your name, nowhere near the same amount of pictures come up.

Erasure

All three of these pictures have the same thing missing. It reminds me of one of the Black Mirror episodes, but the drink and phone are cut out. To me, these objects are like white space. By white space I mean that they are just there and go by un-noticed. So I took them out and literally replaced them with a “white” or blank space.

Memory Layers

My picture depicts my memory of going to Iowa and meeting some of my relatives for the first time. My dads cousin is a volunteer firefighter, mechanic, and owner of a gas station. They are all really big Cleveland Indians fans. The flannel pattern was put in because it reminded me of the country/small town.

Multiple Exposure

The subject for this piece is my roommate, Jared. He plays for the Mansfield baseball team. I gathered a group of pictures of him as he was running from third base to home. I took the first and last picture of him running and lined them up to create a full image of the base line. From there I lined up the rest of the pictures to the first and last, then cropped only him out so it gives the illusion of him running through the two background pictures. Also, in the top background picture you can see the fence that I was behind. I thought that this was a cool way to show that there are two different pictures that make up the background.

Space

I used this picture of my roommates desk to depict space, or the lack of space. This is about a foot and a half of the desk and there’s a seemingly decent amount of stuff fit into this small space. I also liked that there was a variety of objects in the picture instead of it all being like a stack of books. I guess that also shows how little space we have in our living spaces here at OSU, where desktop space is taken up because there isn’t enough room for everything to have a particular space.

Time

I used a picture of a butterfly to depict time. I was able to get close enough to the butterfly to snap this picture before it flew off. As it was sitting there, it’s wings were moving and the picture of the butterfly is just before it took off from the ground. This depicts time because it was taken as the butterfly was moving.

Light

This is a pretty simple picture that depicts light. I used a lamp to focus the light on the left side of the cup, with the Chipotle logo. This also created a nice background shadow and shadowed the right side of the cup. What I liked most about this picture is the division of light and dark. It starts off brighter on the left side, where the source of light is coming from, and gradually becomes darker as is moves to the right.
