Overview of teaching interest

I am a teacher at heart first. I love and I am passionate about teaching. On a regular basis, I raise the “why” question during most problem-solving sessions and present the students’ with insights into the problem or provide real-world applications where applicable. I want to make a positive difference in the life of students, especially those who are struggling in math and also those who enjoy doing math.

Beside teaching math and business courses, I coordinate the math and engineering learning center. The reason I agreed to teach in the learning center is because I get to work with bigger pool of diverse students, understand their skills better, thereby helping them to improve their problem solving abilities.

Overview of research interest

My research interest previously was in mathematical physics. Connected to this field, I have written papers with Ali Passian, Sherwin Kouchekian (PhD advisor), Maryam Bagherian, Marouane Salhi, and George Siopsis. See my publications for links to these papers.

I am currently working on problems involving predictive analytics (e.g. regression and time series), inferential statistics (e.g. hypothesis testing and ANOVA), and prescriptive analytics (e.g. decision theory and optimization models).
