You see the tall skyscrapers as you approach from across the sea. A glittering jewel in the ocean and the next step towards freedom, Hong Kong, stands before you.
As the ship approaches the port, you smile as you see Hong Kongian officials make way for your arrival. However, as you get off and before you are able to gather yourself, you and fellow refugees are suddenly swept away by men into the outer banks of the city towards a large encampment. It’s expansive throes are surrounded by barbed wire and thousands of people are moving about within. Before you are pushed into the camp, the officials mark you down upon pieces of paper and say you will eventually be called for a screening to decide resettlement. With that, you are shoved into the camp.
