Journal 1

I personally liked welcome week, it was very fun and exciting and made moving in a great experience. I was an OWL, which meant moved in early so I could help all of the other people move in to our dorm. It was a great experience and allowed me to meet a lot of faces in the house. I went to the involvement fair, I have not looked through all of the clubs too hard though, that is something I should do soon. I really enjoyed convocation, it made me so happy to finally be a Buckeye. My classes are definitely not what I expected, however I love how they turned out to be. My Anthropology instructor is so into what she is teaching, learning is very fun in her class. My Calculus 3 class is just as hard as I expected it to be but the professor I am still adjusting to, she is very sweet though. My History of Rock n’ Roll class is awesome, I would not trade it for any other class, the lecture’s are 80 minutes of pure fun. I like my engineering class, but I wish there was a better way to get together with my team. These past two weeks have been emotional and hard, but so much fun. The transition for me is not that hard, because I grew up around Ohio State and I live very close. College life is so different, I have realized that everything I do relies on myself. No one can tell me what to do, and I am in complete control of what I do and when I do it. I have not walked more in my whole life as I have in the first two full weeks in college. I expected that people would be more open than they are, but I can see the discrepancy with my thought because everyone on my floor is in the same position I am. They are all adjusting, just like me. Somehow, college is almost everything I expected, except I thought it would be a lot harder than it really is. Working really hard in high school prepared me for knowing how to adjust to the work load. It is easier now to want to do all of the work and actually study because the resources are so much closer to my fingertips, and my motivation levels have been raised from that of a high school senior. The scholars program has helped bring our scholars group closer together because, we are all involved in the same program (on our dorm floor). Because of this, I have made a lot of new friends that I may not have been inclined to introduce myself to. The people are a lot nicer than they seemed on the first day. The scholars program is slightly different than what I thought it was going to be. I hope to learn more about what architecture does and by being around so many Arch majors, this has been a simple task. It is kind of like we are a big family, and that is making adjusting to college life a little easier.

About Me

Hi my name is Tessa Vetter! I am a Mechanical Engineering Major at OSU and I am from Hilliard, Ohio I love to read, draw, exercise, and hang out and do things with my friends! My goals are to get into the engineering college next fall and to keep on top of my studies so the stress of procrastination can be suppressed. I would love to get better at research and teaching myself new things and things that I do not understand. I want to get a minor in architecture or industrial design and a masters in either Mechanical Engineering or Business. I love to go hiking, rock climb, ride my bike, try sports I don’t play a lot, and challenge myself. I try to be the best person for myself and for the people around me. I consider my awareness to be one of my most important qualities. I am excited for this year and the experiences it will bring!
