This event was part of the partnership between the OSU Veterans Employee Resource Group (VERG), the Military Veteran Resource Center (MVRC) and Besa. On behalf of these organizations, we want to offer a HUGE thank you to all the volunteers!
During the March 18, 2023, Saturday morning event, 349 FOOD boxes were packed in first 90 minutes. With the remaining time, these fantastic volunteers sorted two additional pallets of items by type and expiration date to prepare for next packing event.
We would like to recognize the following volunteers and their family members who unselfishly devoted their Saturday morning in support of our community’s Military members and their families:
Trevor Bethel & family; Mary Bickley & family; Benjamin Bishop; Jennifer Brown & family; Paul Dumouchelle; Marc Goldman; Sherrell Johnson (Treats4TheStreets); Tyler Leaderman; Peggy Maitlano; Kelsey Mitchell (BESA); Stephanie Neff; Kimberly Nolan; Alicia Parrish; Kevin Shively; Amanda Squires; Natalie Stephens & family; Laura Stillion & family; Katherine Stillman; Robert Stillman; Jeff Tabares; Ashley Tainer-Harp & family; Beth Taylor & family; and Greg Wilson
There will be more events coming and we would love to have you involved. If you would like to be involved in the 2023 initiatives, please contact Ashley Tainer-Harp, ashley.tainer-harp@osumc.edu.
The Veterans ERG connects Veterans, their families, and supporters within the OSU Community. In addition to building community, we seek to advance Veterans’ careers and serve the Veteran community with resources, networking, and commemorative events.
If you are a Veteran or National Guard/Reserve member of the United States military, or somebody who supports Veterans regardless of military status, please consider joining the Veterans Employee Resource Group (ERG), please contact Paul Dumouchelle, paul.dumouchelle@osumc.edu.
About the OSU Wexner Medical Center employee volunteer program
In partnership with Besa, the Office of Community and Civic Engagement at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center created an employee volunteer program to help advance the mission of improving the overall health and well-being of the communities it serves. Currently, the pilot is working with Ohio State East Hospital, Outpatient Care East and Outpatient Care New Albany. The Besa portal allows employees to view current projects, sign up with colleagues, request engagement and team-building projects for teams, and give back. Together, we can improve lives and amplify a culture of community engagement. Sign up for an account here today!
For nearly twenty years, Military Veterans Resource Center (MVRC) has helped veterans regain the self-reliance, independence and self-confidence they felt as a service member. We recognize that the transition from military service to civilian life often is difficult. Our goal is to help veterans identify and overcome the barriers that are holding them back from the life they want.
