Research Scientists

Yi-Chung (Ethan) Chen joined the EECS Lab as a research scientist in 2016. His research interests include neuromorphic computing for neural networks and biomedical interfaces.

Graduate Students

Jack J.-C. Hsueh received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from National Cheng Kung University and National Taiwan University, Taiwan, in 2010 and 2013, respectively. He received the M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2017. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree at Ohio State. His research is focused on bio-inspired computing with next-generation massive storage. He is a recipient of ISSCC Analog Devices Outstanding Student Designer Award in 2018.

Weilun Chen received the B.S. degree in Integrate Circuit Design and Integration System from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, in 2015. He received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (VLSI Design) from University of Southern California in 2018. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree at The Ohio State University with research interests in computationally intelligent RF/mixed-signal circuits.

Mengyao Zhao received the B.S. degree in Microelectronics Science and Technology from Xiamen University, China, in 2017. Now he is a graduate student at The Ohio State University in Electrical and Computer Engineering with research interests in analog/mixed-signal circuits and machine learning for sensor interfaces and communication systems.

Yun Seok Hong received the B.S. degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from University of Nebraska in 2015 and the M.S degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in 2018. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree at The Ohio State University. His research is focused on analog/mixed-signal circuits.

Pankaj Kumar obtained his B.S. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) from Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Allahabad, India, in 2012. He worked as a mixed-signal validation engineer with the automotive group at NXP Semiconductor from 2012 to 2016. During 2016-17, he worked as a mixed-signal engineer at Qualcomm. Now he is a graduate student at The Ohio State university in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) with a focus on circuits and systems design.

Undergraduate Students

Mackenzie Kondas is finishing her second year in her undergraduate degree as an Electrical Engineering student at The Ohio State University. In addition to her research with Dr. Chen, Mackenzie is also a Teaching Assistant for the Fundamentals of Engineering program as well as an active member of Buckeye Space Launch Initiative.

For Post-Doctoral Scholars

For qualified applicants holding a PhD in the related research field, a postdoctoral appointment is possible. For additional details/questions, please contact Prof. Chen and be sure to provide your CV and a list of references.

For Prospective PhD Students

We are actively looking for highly-motivated PhD students. If you are applying to OSU for a PhD in ECE and finding our work interesting, please send Prof. Chen an email along with your CV and transcripts. Prior experience in algorithms or analog/mixed-signal/RF circuit design is preferred, but not necessary. Industrial experience or a master degree focusing on algorithms or circuit design is a plus. Please include the words “prospective student” in the subject line to assist email filters. Due to high volume of emails, we may not be able to respond to each inquiry.

For BS/MS Students Interested in Research Projects

EECS lab actively engages OSU BS/MS students in research projects. These research projects could be greatly enhance the student’s employment prospects. If you are interested in our research and would like to participate in a research project, please send an email to Prof. Chen with your CV attached. Please also include a list of courses taken at OSU as well as the grades obtained in them.
