Many music theater fanatics and music lovers have seen and adore the musical The Sound of Music, and how better to describe my leadership than with a quote from its famous soundtrack, “How do you solve a problem like Maria?!” Learning how to solve issues under pressure with grace is the basis for how I have come to find my leadership and my passions. Throughout high school, I became very involved in Student Council, showing me how to be a responsible leader and sparking my passion for the political atmosphere. I was the Vice President of Student Council and the President of my school’s Key Club. Key Club was a volunteer organization dedicated to strengthening the community through community service. These two organizations formed the two most meaningful groups in my high school experience that formed the goals and leadership I still have today.
Through Key Club, one of my main goals was to strengthen and increase the number of service projects my school partook in, as well as to get others excited about volunteering throughout my community. In my effort to accomplish this goal, I took on the leadership role of President of my school’s Key Club. This has been one of the most impactful leadership positions I have earned during my high school career, truly helping me to pursue my passion for volunteering and service while showing me that selfless service is what I hope to someday dedicate my life to. In my effort to maintain and improve the high prestige of our club, I spent countless hours organizing events, contacting sponsors, and gathering information to send out to my entire club promoting service events throughout the community. This role has taught me how volunteering your time and talents is not always easy to prioritize, but the unspoken pleasure you receive from helping another is the greatest feeling I have been lucky enough to experience.
Throughout my life, I hope to continue serving others through leadership as I began in my years as a Key Club President. My future goals are to study political science at the college level, and get a law degree thereafter. Once I have received my education, I hope to work my way up the political spectrum to finally receive a job in a government agency so that I can help write legislation to promote and improve the lives of those around me. I hope to combine my passion for politics and my knowledge I learned in school to truly be a politician for others.
I am from Strongsville Ohio (a suburb of Cleveland) and love to run and eat!! I am a big cross country fan and try to get out to run any time I can! I hate forks that have 3 prongs on them (just add one more for crying out loud!) and have an obsession with creative ways to use mason jars (I LOVE a good mason jar). I am very excited to be starting my new college experience here at Ohio State and can not wait to be a part of the politics, society, and law scholars group!! I hope this helped you learn a little bit about me!
