G.O.A.L.S

I hope to gain a better understanding of the world around me and continue to be open to new ideas and cultures. I plan to broaden my understanding by studying abroad, potentially in Germany or Switzerland. This study abroad experience will allow me to experience daily life from a different perspective, and it will also challenge me to go out of my comfort zone since I will be surrounded by others who do not speak my primary language. As a student on the PhD track, I am aware that research is a vital element of my undergraduate studies. I am eager to get involved in a lab on campus in order to work alongside professors and graduate students in order to better prepare myself for future degrees. I plan to begin in a lab during the spring semester of my Freshman year, and then to remain involved in various labs for the subsequent years. I am interested in the research done by the Social Neurochemistry Lab, and I anticipate that I will find many more interesting research labs among the faculty. My plan to earn an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience will provide me with many opportunities to take challenging courses that will help guide me towards a specialization in later years. I am also hoping to add at least one minor to my major in order to expand my knowledge of another subject that interests me. I have interests in Music and German courses, both of which would provide experiences and curricula that challenge me and motivate me to succeed. I look forward to engaging in various leadership opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. Leadership is a key part of my daily life because I feel that I learn how to cooperate with others as well as effectively approach a problem as a group. I hope to involve myself with leadership opportunities through musical ensembles which I plan to join, as well as through Nu Rho Psi in upcoming years. I was very involved in community service throughout these past few years, and I hope to continue this involvement in my new community here in Columbus. I attended a Pay it Forward volunteer event and I plan to stay involved with this activity because they provide many opportunities to serve both on and off campus. I will also work towards this goal by seeking out ways to offer my time around campus. I am eager to begin to work towards these goals in the next 4 years and to be involved with the honors community and the overall campus.

About Me

I am majoring in Neuroscience with a potential Math or Music minor. I hope to continue my education after undergraduate school and earn my PhD in Neuroscience in order to become a Professor and participate in research. I am interested in research relating to neuroscience and music because I play two instruments and have been involved with music for most of my life. I am also interested in research for prevention and treatment of disorders. I enjoy learning and teaching, so being a Professor will give me the opportunity to do both.
