Columbus To-Do List with Peer Leader Group

On 2/11/2018 me and my peer leader group went to Chop-Shop for to complete our Columbus To-Do List. Chop-Shop is a restaurant well-know for selling burgers and fries It is not a long walk from Drackett so it is not a big time commitment to go. Chop-Shop has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. One thing I learned from Chop-Shop is that is it not always good to have more menu items. At this restaurant there are not too many options to choose from. This actually makes the experience less overwhelming and shows the customer they are a specialized restaurant that sells quality food. If I ever start a restaurant I will likely follow the same strategy as Chop-Shop. Finally, I would recommend this to a friend because it is a relatively short walk, and pretty cheap too. The burgers there are definitely a step up from the burgers at Scott Traditions. .

Columbus To-Do List #2

My favorite experience this semester was Eden Burger. This is because the atmosphere and the “hipster” vibe was really cool. A vegan burger is also very unique. I learned that Columbus is a salad of different cultures and ideas. I say salad and not melting pot because a melting pot implies all the different cultures are fused together. However in Columbus, each culture is present and preserved in its own way. There are Indian restaurants, vegan places, German Village, traditional Japanese food, all separated from each other but in the same city. This makes me want to explore all the different cultural areas to discover new cultures and types of people, such as German Village. For someone endeavoring to explore Columbus, I recommend taking advantage of COTA, which we get for free, instead of walking. Many places in Columbus are very spaced out from each other.

This weekend I went to Aab India. Aab India is a Indian restaurant and serves traditional and Americanized Indian food. The inside of Aab India has many Indian decorations to make it seem like you are really eating in India. The smell of the restaurant is a strong distinct Indian food smell. I had a very good experience. I ordered Chicken-Tikka-Masala (a safe choice for non-Indians). The quality of the food was much better than other Indian restaurants in the area, although much pricier too. There was so many options on the menu that it could be overwhelming and confusing. I learned that Indian food is very good and almost always spicy. I would recommend it, but there are Indian restaurants that are much cheaper if you are on a tight budget.

Columbus To-Do List Final Version

The list I have chosen for this semester is Local Food Favorites. I am most looking forward to eating at Aab India. This is because my favorite food is Indian (as long as its not too spicy), and Aab India makes good Indian food. I am hoping to gain a better understanding of Columbus and the area outside of campus. By going to different food places across Columbus I can better understand the culture of the city and get more comfortable as well.

Columbus To-Do List:

This weekend we went to Eden Burger. Eden Burger is a vegan burger restaurant and serves burgers that vegans and meat eaters can both enjoy. My favorite things about Eden Burger was the food. Although vegan food has a reputation for not being tasty, Eden Burger disproves this. I also liked how most of the seats to eat were outside the restaurant on a patio type place. The inside is crowded and tiny so good luck getting a seat when its raining! I also liked the staff, as they were super outgoing and friendly. I learned that there are really good vegan substitutes for food items that are known to only taste good with meat. I recommend going to Eden Burger mostly for the food and the experience of trying new things.

This weekend we went to Katzinger’s Little Deli at the North Market. Katzinger’s Little Deli is a deli/sandwich shop . They serve lots of Reuben as well. My favorite things about Katzinger’s Little Deli was the location, situated in the heart of the North Market, and obviously the food was good. At the deli I had motzo-ball soup. Matzah balls or matzo balls are an Ashkenazi Jewish soup dumpling made from a mixture of matzah meal, eggs, water, and a fat, such as oil, margarine, or chicken fat. Matzah balls are traditionally served in chicken soup. I think that the soup was really good and unique tasting. If you are looking for something a little different then I recommend coming here. However, there are plenty of food choices here and I will be trying something else next time I go to the North Market.

My favorite experience this semester was Eden Burger. This is because the atmosphere and the “hipster” vibe was really cool. A vegan burger is also very unique. The food was also the best tasting out of all the places I went.

This makes me want to explore all the different cultural areas to discover new cultures and types of people, such as German Village. This is because whenever I decide to explore Columbus I leave with a new understanding of cultures and what makes America so diverse.

For someone endeavoring to explore Columbus, I recommend taking advantage of COTA, which we get for free, instead of walking. Many places in Columbus are very spaced out from each other.
