About Me

Name: Alex Ulry

Humanitarian Engineering

Hello! My name is Alex Ulry. I guess you’re here because you want to know a bit about me, huh? I’m not the best at talking about myself but I’ll give it a try. I am a mechanical engineer who is also in the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars Program. I graduated from Olentangy High School in 2017. I am involved in the Japanese Student Organization and Engineers Without Borders. I enjoy playing tennis, although I am unsure if I will continue playing tennis at the Ohio State University at this moment. I have 2 siblings, a brother and sister who are both in middle school. As the oldest child and a first generation college student, my time at the Ohio State University is a new experience for everyone in my family. Some strengths I have are that I am adaptable. I can work well individually or in a group depending on the situation. I am also very persistent. If there is a task I need to do I make sure to finish it and give it 100% effort. Finally, I am very empathetic. I am good at putting myself in peoples shoes and looking at things through other peoples eyes. I don’t bite and feel free to ask me for help or just chat!

My #1 strength is Relator. Relators find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal. I connect to this strength because I enjoy close relationships and friends.

My #2 strength is Achiever. Achievers have lots of stamina and work hard to get stuff done. They get satisfaction from being busy. I connect to this strength because I am always “on the grind” doing homework and working hard in my classes.

My #3 strength is Analytical. People with this strength search for reasons and causes. They have the ability to think about all the factors that might affect a situation. I connect with this strength because I am very reasonable about what I want to accomplish in the future. I am also frustrated if I do not know “why” something happened.

My #4 strength is Harmony. People with this strength look for consensus. They don’t enjoy conflict but would rather seek areas of agreement. I connect with this because I always see from other peoples points of view. I respect everyone’s opinions in a debate.

My #5 strength is Responsibility. People with this strength take psychological ownership of what they say they will do. They are committed to honesty and loyalty. I connect with this strength because I do what I will say I will to myself and others. I get satisfaction in completing tasks that were assigned to me.
