Curriculum

The on-line RN to BSN program requires 120 credit hours with a minimum of 30 semester hours to be taken at Ohio State*. The university requires that you complete your degree requirement in two major areas. These areas are defined as:

  1. General Education courses (GE) which provide a broad acquaintance with the basic areas of academic study such as modern science, social science, arts, humanities, and foundation courses. The College of Nursing, like other departments, requires explicit courses to meet this requirement. General Education classes can be completed any time prior to graduation.
  2.  Core nursing courses are available on-line as part of the RN to BSN program. There are 21 credit hours of nursing courses and 3 credit hours of nursing elective required. The Nursing Elective, can be chosen from a list of Approved Nursing Elective Courses totaling 3 hours of credit. This requirement can be completed any time prior to graduation.

If you are unable to complete the courses as indicated in your program plan, you will need to apply for a leave of absence. In order to reenter, a reactivation petition must be submitted to the academic advisor. The Undergraduate Studies Committee will review the request and provide a decision and any recommendations necessary prior to reentry. Please contact the RN to BSN academic advisor for more information on this process.

Students who have earned a degree from Ohio State will need 30 credit hours in addition to credits awarded from their previous degree.
