Admission to the BSN Honors Program
The College of Nursing Honors Research Program is highly competitive with the minimum OSU GPA required for admission 3.4 and are accepted into the Traditional Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing program. Students must be accepted into the College of Nursing Honors Research Program in order to gain or retain honors status and to graduate with distinction. Students who have previously held honors status at either a university or college level must be enrolled in the College of Nursing Honors Research Program to retain honors status.
The Director of the College of Nursing Honors Research Program will notify applicants in writing regarding admission into the program prior to the start of autumn semester.
Requirements to Maintain Honors Status
Students enrolled in the College of Nursing Research Honors program are required to maintain a OSU Grade Point Average (GPA) (3.5) and complete a sequence of honors coursework and research thesis.
College of Nursing Course Requirements: The College of Nursing offers a total of seven (7) honors level nursing courses. The courses range in credit hours from two to three credit hours (2-3). Nursing students begin taking these courses when they enter the major (sophomore year) and continue throughout the junior and senior years.
Graduation Program Requirement: Completion of a research thesis under the supervision of a faculty mentor.
