Honors Admission & Maintaining Honors Status

Admission to the BSN Honors Program

The College of Nursing Honors Program is highly competitive. Traditional undergraduate students may apply to the Honors Program at the end of their freshman year after being accepted into the Nursing major. To qualify for the Honors Program, nursing students must be in the top 10%-15% of their incoming nursing class and write a personal statement addressing their qualifications and expectations. Other criteria evaluated include the quality of the applicant’s pre-nursing course work and their involvement in student and/or community organizations.
Information about the Honors Program is sent to students at the time of acceptance into the major. Students must be accepted into the College of Nursing Honors Program upon admission into the major in order to continue with honors course work and to graduate with distinction.
The Director of the College of Nursing Honors Program will notify applicants in writing regarding admission into the program. Admissions decisions will be announced in August, prior to the start of autumn semester.
