About

Welcome to my website! I am a sophomore and Design Foundations student at The Ohio State University where I am pursuing Interior Design. I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio with my two younger sisters, Audrie and Hazel and my parents, Matt and Suzanna who are OSU Alumni! From a young age I’ve had a love for music which led me to be a part of choir throughout my entire middle school and high school career. Being in choir really humbled me and gave me some of the best experiences such as singing in New York City. While traveling with my choir, I developed an eye for design as many of the events that we performed at were in historical buildings and/or structures. I loved that initial moment of seeing a building and how it made me feel inside. I often would get caught up in questioning why things were the way they were and wanting to know more about who designed the building and why. That’s when I realized, “Hey I could do this for a career!

Ohio State has always been my home so getting the opportunity to follow my dream of studying design here has been really exciting and a life long goal of mine.

Noteworthy Info About Me

Mentorship – My First Experience with Design

I got the opportunity to intern with the home design coordinator at Bob Webb Homes, a luxury custom home builder company in Lewis Center, Ohio. This experience put me in a really vulnerable position, but it ultimately helped me gain confidence in the work I was creating and form a new understanding of the professional world. While being mentored at Bob Webb, I worked with Jessica May, the design coordinator, in designing multiple homes that are now complete and available for purchase by customers. Throughout my time there I was a part of meetings with the design team, as well as working with home owners to design their perfect home. Fast forward to now as I see these homes fly off the market, it brings me joy knowing that I put so much hard work and effort into something that is functional for people and will make their every day lives a little bit easier.

What Design Means To Me

  • Creating a space that makes people feel safe and comfortable

    • I learned through my experience at Bob Webb Homes, that people want functional yet aesthetically pleasing elements included in their home. By having those features, it creates a healthy environment for all and ultimately helps shape the rest of their days.
  • Help with our human necessities

    • Design can be frustrating as we constantly find the nitty, gritty things that we wish to be changed, but by being so picky, it benefits us in the long run with how satisfied and content we are with the end result. By creating tools that can help with our needs, we are bettering not just our own lives but the lives in the world around us.
  • My Passion

    • I believe everyone should have a place where they feel most at peace, that’s why home building has become such a big part of my life as I hope to help people reach that mindset that maybe they’ve never experienced before. Although I hope to do this as a career one day, I also know that there are many different aspects of design that I am unaware of and I cannot wait to see where those new findings will take me!

My Excitement for Design

No matter what one’s initial idea of design is, my hope is to show them just how far design can go.

  • Collaborating

    • I am looking forward to learning from other designers and hearing their perspective on design. No matter what a design is, some person in this world has a use for it and it might be their favorite thing to use, which is really fascinating and something I want to get hands on with.
  • The Mystery

    • There are no stated limits or boundaries that keep us from designing new and worthy things. We have no idea what designs will be created within the next year, let alone within the next month, that is so cool and almost mind boggling to know that we have these human abilities to create objects that will be used for years to come.
