Award and how it felt to be honored
Throughout my young adult life I have been honored with many awards for many different things. But here recently at the OTF Spring Tee Off I was presented with the Joe Motz Sports Turf Student of the Year Award.
What makes this award special to me is that it isn’t just an academic award, yes it does take in to consideration your academic standing but it also takes in to consideration your jobs and how you present yourself in the industry. So to be given this award was an outstanding achievement in my fairly young career in the sports turf industry. It took a lot of hard work and networking to get myself out there in the sports turf industry and is honor to know people know who I am and that I’m highly thought of by my teachers and other sports field managers.
The Joe Motz Sports Turf Student of the Year Award was an accomplishment for me because I get to join the others before me who have also won the award. Like Weston Appelfeller, Chris Fox, Matt Brown, and Robbie Dworkin all who are well known guys in the sports turf field. This award is also special to me because my parents were able to join me on the day I got the award. Being 2 hours away from Columbus, my family isn’t always able to come and support and share in accomplishments I have gained here at school. Having them there made me feel great because I was able to see them smiling from the crowd and admiring my accomplishments.
