The Chute! operates by allowing the user to drop can from the top. Once the can drops, gravity pulls the can down towards the blade, piercing the can, which allows content to flow out – thus emptying the can. After the can empties, the user hits the “Retract Blade” button on the control panel to retract the blade allowing the can to roll down towards the next station. Once the can is in place, the user hits the “Crush Can” button on control panel to crush the empty can with the pneumatic cylinder. Once crushed the can becomes small enough to fall directly down the waste bin which ends the task.
