  • Global Awareness: During my time at The Ohio State I plan to study abroad.  As an aspiring medical professional, knowledge and appreciation of other cultures is essential to effectively working with patients from all types of backgrounds.  I would love to further my education in a Spanish speaking country, such as Spain.
  • Original Inquiry: I plan to participate in research as a way to enrich my undergraduate experience.  I am very interested in doing biological research and furthering the field of science.  This will give me both hands-on experience as well as contribute to knowledge I gain in the classroom.
  • Academic Enrichment: As a biology major on a pre-med track I will continue to take rigorous courses in order to prepare for the MCAT.  This involves enrolling in higher level courses as well as incorporating honors classes into my schedule.
  • Leadership Development: I will continue to be participate in ENCompass and join one of the club’s cohorts.  This will give me the opportunity to become more involved in the club and take on more responsibilities.
  • Service Engagement: Before applying to medical school, my goals is to achieve around 500 hours of service work.  I am currently involved in a student organization on campus called ENCompass.  Our goal is to empower members of the Columbus community and equip them with the tools needed for success.  This involves connecting them to resources in the area that address social determinants of health.  Over the summer, when I am back home in St. Louis,  I will also continue volunteering at St. Patrick’s Center and Our Lady’s Inn.
