The 2016-2017 school years has been a very rewarding one for myself. Coming into this year, I knew I wanted to focus on improving myself. I wanted to become more comfortable with who I was, even if that meant being a little selfish at times. Looking back now, I definitely feel as though I have made improvement. I feel much more confident about who I am and where I want to be. I have also continued to stick with my academic goals. My classes this year have been much more interesting, and they have given me a much clearer vision of what I want to do with my life. Thanks to my involvement in Theta Chi Fraternity, International Affairs Scholars program, and STEP, this year has been a remarkable one for me, and I look forward to next year!

Hocking Hills Trip
Last Sunday, April 9th, my scholars program took a trip to Hocking Hills State Park. This trip was a fantastic was to wrap up my time as an International Affairs scholar. I had never been to Hocking Hills. Some of the sights were incredible. The picture above is of Old Man’s Cave. As my time in the scholars program comes to an end, I can’t help but be appreciative of all that is has given. It has taught me so much and has helped me become a much more understanding and open person. It has also brought my to my best friends. I will always be grateful of the International Affairs Scholars program.
Theta Chi Fraternity
Perhaps my most time-consuming adventure this semester was installing Theta Chi Fraternity at The Ohio State University. Alpha Lambda began as a colony in September 16, 2016. At that time, it had 20 men. On April 8, 2017, Alpha Lambda was installed as an official chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity. We currently have 71 men. It has been incredibly rewarding to be part of a group such as this, and the progress we have made has been impressive. Joining this fraternity has improved my college experience immensely, and I look forward to the progress and experiences we have before us.
Summer 2017 Internship
I have accepted a summer internship with Great American Insurance Group. I will be the Data Sciences Intern in the Predictive Analytics department of Great American Insurance. I am extremely excited for this opportunity. Ultimately, I would like to have a career in analytics, and this internship is a fantastic way to get my foot in the door. The job is located in downtown Cincinnati. This is also very helpful, for I get the chance to live at home and not worry about paying rent in another city. I look forward to gaining experience with data and analytics.

Asian Philosophy Class
Annotation:
Asian Philosophy was a class that I did not expect to enjoy that much. I mainly took it to fill some GE requirements. However, this class ended up being one of my favorites of my first year. In this class, we talk about Asian religions and how those religions develop different philosophies. We talked about, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Confucianism, Daoism and Zen Buddhism. My favorite subject to learn about was the Islamic philosophies.
This class was so meaningful for many reasons. Religion has always been a big part of my life. I was born into a Catholic family and have had a strong Catholic upbringing. One thing I told myself I would always try to do is to learn about and understand other religions, and how their perspectives of the world differ from my own. This class provided that opportunity. This, combined with having a very awesome professor who loves this subject, made a class that blew away my expectations.
Human Biology Final Paper
Term Paper:

Annotation:
Taking Human Biology this year has proven to be a great decision. The class was very interesting, and I very much enjoyed the lectures. Perhaps part of this was because of the lecturer I had. She made the class very entertaining for all the students. For this term paper, we had to explain why taking a class like Human Biology makes one a more knowledge and responsible citizen. people get too caught up in their daily routines and hobbies to bother themselves with concepts such as biology. Biology often comes across to people as challenging, unimportant, and not very relevant to their everyday lives. Surprisingly, it is the exact opposite. Whether it’s disease, environmental factors, controversial issues, or just normal human activity, biology is present.
I found this assignment particularly meaningful. It made me realize how much this new information I learned comes into play every day of my life. In this paper, I wrote about the effects of stress on the body, diabetes, antibiotic resistance, and how understanding biological concepts can help one form opinions on controversial issues.
First Ohio State Football Game
Annotation:
My first Ohio State football gameday is a day I will never forget. Only a few weeks into new school, I was still getting used to everything and making new friendships. This game provided a great opportunity socialize and further cement those new relationships. I went with a few of my friends from high school and some of my roommate and friends from my floor.
Although I had never been to a game, I had seen pictures of the stadium and from those I had an idea of what to expect. However, once I made it to my seat, I was blown away. Seeing 100,000+ people in one spot is jaw-dropping. Even still, to see that many people who are super passionate about a college football team is even more impressive. It was very cool to see, and it further proved I made the correct decision to go to this school.
