Artifacts

I am not a very sentimental person, I definitely prefer to cherish memories and people over physical objects. I would say the objects that means the most to me and would best represent who I am as a person is my lettermen jacket. My senior year I was the only person from Yellow Springs High School to have a varsity jacket. As the captain of the varsity bowling team my jacket is a symbol of my past team and our commitment to each other and bowling. My pins and letter allow me to remember past seasons and my favorite memories in high school. I did not bring my jacket to college because I don’t have enough room, but I have a picture of my jacket in my senior photo.

My watch is something that also holds value in my life. I appreciate my Casio F-91w’s simplicity and light weight. I always like having simple solutions that work well, and this watch is a perfect representation of that. It has enough functions to be useful (a clock, alarm, stopwatch, and light) but not too many features that the watch is complicated to use or too large for my small wrists. It is minimal and it works, and I usually forget it is even there. That is also my philosophy for how we need to treat our solutions to problems in engineering and that is why I like this watch.

About Me

I am Jonah Trillana, a first year at The Ohio State University and my intended major is Electrical and Computer Engineering. Ever since I was little I’ve had a passion for electronics and radios. I am so happy to have found a major that reflects my interests and can be used to help others and the world. I hope to really explore the broad field of electrical engineering the next four years and find what particular field interests me the most. Several of my other hobbies include dancing, theater, bowling, tennis, horseback riding, and animal care. I am from the small town of Yellow Springs Ohio, so moving to Columbus has been a real adventure this first year. There are so many great people and things to do here. I hope to meet you all and can’t wait to see what OSU has to offer!

My top five strengths are:

1. Restorative
2. Consistency
3. Context
4. Analytical
5. Harmony

I defiantly excel at working under pressure and enjoy fixing problems as the arise. I also strongly believe in treating all people as equally as possible.

For our location, our peer group decided to go to Kafe Kerouac this Sunday the 28th at 11 am. Unfortunate only four of us we’re able to make it due to some last-minute conflicts, but it was still great to get to know people better. When we left we decided to go to a breakfast place instead and walked half a mile (the buses were closed due to the marathon) to fine the wait for tables was over 45 minutes. So, we decided to walk back to Kafe Kerouac which opened at 12. After walking for an hour, we certainly exhausted but delighted by the atmosphere of the place. The coffee was also pretty good. After about 45 minutes the café became crowded, so we left to make room for others. I really enjoyed seeing the locals and getting to know the area not too far from campus. Next time however, we would take the bus and check the time the place opens for sure to avoid complications. I would defiantly recommend everyone checks out Kafe Kerouac though.

I went to north market again two weeks ago on the 11th. It was really nice to see all the cool shops and food places again. This time I went and got polish food, along with some pho (like the soup). Some of the shops were really neat and had a nice atmosphere. The polish food was so good I got extra to take back to the dorm. I really enjoyed the spice shop and the cute hot sauce shop. I got some hot sauce which was perfect to add to ramen back home. I really enjoyed the market and hope to go back soon sometime.
