MINESWEEPER

We are glad that you have chosen to play our take on the classic game, Minesweeper! We hope that you will enjoy playing our game.

Summary

The object of the game is to find and place a flag on all of the mines within a minefield, without accidentally causing one to detonate. You do this by checking areas in the minefield, designated by boxes.  When you check a box you will see a number in the box like this.

[   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [   ]

[   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [   ]

[   ]   [   ]   [ 2 ]  [   ]   [   ]

[   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [   ]

[   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [   ]

The number 2 indicates that there are 2 mines somewhere in the 8 boxes adjacent to it. With more numbers and deductive reasoning we can figure out where the mines have to be.

Controls

You can use the arrow keys to move the cursor across the minefield (If you try to go past the bound of the minefield, the cursor will warp to the opposite side of the minefield). The enter/return key is used to check a box. The space bar is used to flag a box.

Strategy

[   ]   [   ]   [ 1 ]   [ 0 ]   [ 0 ]

[   ]   [   ]   [ 1 ]   [ 0 ]   [ 0 ]

[   ]   [   ] < 2 >  [ 1 ]    [ 0 ]

[   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [ 1 ]   [ 0 ]

[   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [ 1 ]   [ 0 ]

The number 1 to the right of the 2 tells us that there is only one adjacent box with a mine. Since there is only one box nearby that has not been checked, we can assume the mine is there and flag it with the space bar.

[   ]   [   ]   [ 1 ]   [ 0 ]   [ 0 ]

[   ]   [   ]   [ 1 ]   [ 0 ]   [ 0 ]

[   ]   [   ] < 2 >  [ 1 ]   [ 0 ]

[   ]   [   ]   [ # ]  [ 1 ]   [ 0 ]

[   ]   [   ]   [   ]   [ 1 ]   [ 0 ]

Tip: If you get stuck, try to check a box that is least likely to have a mine there.
