Welcome

Welcome to the OSU-University of Sheffield Exchange, New Approaches to Transnational History in the Global Twentieth Century. This workshop at the University of Sheffield is the second of two that features graduate students’ work in transnational history. We will be exploring the following questions: Is the “transnational” a phenomenon associated only with modernity? Who can be counted as a transnational actor? And what is the relationship among transnational, international, and global history?

For this second event, graduate students from Ohio State University’s Department of History will present their on-going research. University of Sheffield faculty will offer brief comments on each paper before opening the discussion to workshop attendees. All are welcome!

Sponsored by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the History Department at the University of Sheffield and the Department of History and College of Arts & Sciences at The Ohio State University.
