Wexner Medical Center Volunteer

Volunteering at the Wexner Medical Center has greatly impacted me this semester. Beginning this school year, I was almost certain I wanted to strictly be a scientific researcher. As a volunteer I am one of the first faces patients and family members see as they enter the hospital, I provide a friendly face and a comforting attitude, and I help them navigate the hospital. Often times families and friends coming to hspital are overwhelmed and stressed out, but my goal is to relieve some of that anxiety by getting them where they need to go and being friendly. If I can improve their day even in the slightest bit, I feel like I have succeeded. These interactions made me realize how much I enjoy helping others and lifting spirits. Although I still have the same passion for discovery and research that I had before, I now know that I want to work with patients as well as conduct medical research, in hopes of improving lives.

About Me

Hello! My name is Lindsey Trank and I am a first year Honors student at The Ohio State University. I am majoring in Neuroscience and love learning about the brain and human biology. In my years at OSU I hope to get involved with research to get a more hands on learning experience. During high school I loved being a part of student council, holding leadership positions, and planning events. I also enjoy serving others through community service. I look forward to getting involved at OSU and meeting new people.
