Tough Soccer Concepts (and how to teach them!)

What are tough soccer concepts and why should I care?

Tough soccer concepts are some of the complicated rules in the game of soccer that you now have to learn and understand as you reach a certain age or level of competition. You may have had a coach try to explain these rules to you, but you still don’t understand how they work in the game, or you are simply curious about learning more. You’ve come to the right place!

This site will review several tough soccer concepts:

• The 3 main tenets of the offside rule
• The differences between a regular foul, a yellow card, and a red card
• The differences between a direct and indirect kick

You’ll have a chance to take quizzes to test your knowledge of these concepts after you learn them. You’ll also be provided with video explanations of some of these concepts, links to other sites to learn more, and a discussion board to ask additional questions, and talk to peers.

Additionally, coaches can use the drills provided on the discussion page to enhance their practice of the offside rule, and how to defend or attack during an indirect or direct kick.
