Minimize water usage in Southern California

My team and I decided to have our project be about the water shortage in Southern California and how water usage can be minimized in order to conserve water. We researched the issues within Southern California about their water shortage and drought, and we researched the way engineers and people in California can conserve the amount of water they use. I learned how Southern California already used a majority of California’s water, and now with the drought, there is even less water around the region. Also, much of the water is outsourced to other countries through crops and electricity, so California, and their declining water quality, who needs water, is giving their water to other countries. Through this project, I learned how methods such as desalination, reuse of graywater, and agricultural/residential conservation are just some of the ways California can conserve their water.

This project allowed me to better understand the issues going on in California and the ways they can conserve their usage. Some of the conservation methods used in California could be used all around the world to conserve water intake everywhere. There is already a limited amount of water, so knowing how to make more clean water would be beneficial for the world and the future.
