Throughout my time at Ohio State, I’ve worked in a lot of groups. Each of them had their own roadblocks and issues requiring their own solutions. One central theme among them though was communication and transparency. Being able to effectively communicate and do so early will catch 99% of potential issues before they would occur. If you can’t make a certain deadline — let the group know. If you are confused by something you’ve been tasked to do — let the group know. If you have any new information that would be beneficial to the rest of the group — let them know. BY doing this you essentially create a working environment that catches its own mistakes before they happen and allow you to produce the best work possible.
