My first article that I wrote as a Communications intern for my church

I thought it was really cool to see this article get published in my church’s Sunday bulletin because it was the first event that my friend and I were in charge of since we were made Communication Interns. It felt kind of surreal that something we wrote, took pictures, and conducted interviews for, was handed out to everyone at our parish for that whole week. It felt really nice to inform the community about things that go on in the church that people usually don’t know about. One of the events that I was really happy to take pictures for was the food and clothing drive for the South Suburban Women’s Shelter because I could capture the progress and abundance of supplies that we were later able to provide to the Shelter.

About Me

Hello! My name is Jurni Tollerson and I am a first-year student at The Ohio State University. I am currently a part of the Arts & Sciences program with a major in General Psychology. I am an out of state student from Homewood, Illinois and I went to Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School. In high school, I was a part of many clubs including: Student Ambassadors, National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Operation Snowball, volleyball, golf, badminton, and band. I was a communications intern at my church back home where I took pictures of the different events around the church and wrote articles in the Sunday bulletin. I also became a junior assistant coach for The First Tee Program at Glenwoodie golf course this summer and I hope to continue doing that for the summers when I am back home.

At Ohio State, I am a member of the Mount Leadership Society Scholars program and I am on the Media and Archives Committee (MAC). I hope to get more involved in the Black Student Organization on campus and make connections with them. I would also like to get more involved with 1 or 2 more organizations, but I am still trying to get acclimated to college. I am not sure what I want to do with my Psychology major after college or if Psychology is the way I want to go, but I hope that the exploration through my General Education classes and internships will help me find my way!
