How to Stop Procrastinating!

Procrastination is a problem that nearly everyone deals with!

Here are my steps to take to stop procrastinating:

1.) Get rid of distractions!

The above photo explains how phones and social media can be very distracting to how you study. For me, the best way to keep my mind on studying and off of the distractions, is to put my phone on ‘Do Not Disturb” and placing it in my backpack while I study for a few hours. Planning this time to be away from your phone is essential to stopping procrastination habits.

2.) Reward yourself for small victories.

The above picture is a great quote that shows how we reach our goals. We don’t reach our goals one giant step at a time, but more so small steps at a time. Every small step contributes to your end goal of getting a good grade! Rewarding yourself for taking time to study for one hour each day, is a great way to start to stave off your procrastination habit!

3.) Make your environment suitable for how you learn.

The above picture shows 6 different ways you can make your study environment the best it can be for you. I used to have a bad habit of studying in bed, but ever since I made my desk my learning environment, I study much better and more efficiently.

Technology Tips for Online Learners doing Group Work

1.) Scheduling can be made easy using Doodle!

Doodle is my go-to app for trying to make a schedule with friends who are very busy! I like to keep up with people, but all my friends and myself are very busy people, so I’ve gotten used to using this app. Doodle is especially good for making plans to meet either online or in person for group projects! The above video details how it is used.

2.) Group Me is a great way to stay in contact with group members!

GroupMe is a great way to keep in contact with group members since it is easier to keep up with than regular text messaging or email. In today’s day and age, everyone is constantly checking their phones, which makes it easy to keep up with communication using Apps. GroupMe is a popular app for groups because the groups can be very large, and also most people already have this on their phones.

3.) Google Docs is a great resource to keep everyone up to date!

The above video outlines how to best use Google Docs. If you are unfamiliar with technology, this is a very good starter video. Using google docs can help you stay connected to your classmates on a professional level, since what is written on there will be your group assignment. Everyone can see edits being made in real-time, since multiple people can edit and view at the same time.

Reflection on Learning Strategies

The top three takeaways I’ve learned about learning strategies are:

1.) Learning strategies are very important ~ but one that works for you isn’t necessarily what will work for someone else!

There are 3 kinds of ways that your learning can be obstructed/helped, which are task, time, and environment.

The above image gives some ideas on how to improve your problems with learning relating to “time” and “task”! Setting time limits and being realistic are both great ways to see improvements in your classes, especially online.

2.) To have a proper plan, you should use SMART Goals!

All goals have to start somewhere! When you find a learning goal in your mind, it’s easy to follow the guide of SMART goals, which is detailed in this video. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

3.) To help become a good learner, you should use the resources available to you.
