Shannon Simpson has a BA in English with a writing focus and a minor in Psychology. She attained a Series 7 brokerage license in 2005 and co-created financial plans for clients before moving into a real estate consulting firm where she researched and edited content for RFPs. After obtaining her Master of Library and Information Science in 2009, she authored, co-authored, and edited numerous articles, presentations, research studies, and web material for various high-volume libraries, national conferences, and print journals. As an academic librarian at Johns Hopkins University and currently Kenyon College, Shannon is an instructor for numerous sessions every semester, as the Scholarly Instruction Librarian. A self-professed life-long learner, Shannon completed an Executive Certificate in Business Communication at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2017. Shannon recently joined UPD Consulting, as a part-time Senior Consultant for Diversity Equity and Inclusion endeavors. Shannon is wildly excited about a current grant funded project with fellow Ohio 5 Librarians that is reimagining the Information Literacy classroom using Design Justice Principles.
