These standards define the requirements for obtaining and maintaining various credentials issued by the Ohio State Board of Education, including:

The standards ensure that educators meet professional qualifications and are updated regularly based on recommendations from the Educator Standards Board and other stakeholders.
The Ohio State University is an approved educator preparation program where students complete both classroom learning and hands-on teaching experience to qualify for a teaching license from the Ohio State Board of Education.
Steps to apply for your license/endorsement through the Ohio State Board of Education
- Complete all academic requirements for the program.
- Pass all required tests based on your license/endorsement area.
- Create an OHID Account to submit a license/endorsement application.
- Application is sent to Ohio State to verify that all academic requirements for the program have been met
- Ohio State Board of Education completes a final review
- License/endorsement issued
- You’ll receive an email notification and can download your license from your CORE dashboard.
