Ryan Provost

Director, Teaching, Learning, and Educational Studies Academic and Graduate Student Services

Ryan’s primary responsibilities include degree completion and progression for masters and doctoral students, providing guidance to faculty and students regarding department and Graduate School policy and procedures, and supporting with the overall functionality of the unit. Ryan also supports with department communications and newsletters, social media, events management, and outreach.

Ryan received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Georgia and his M.S. in College Student Personnel from the University of Tennessee. He is currently pursuing his Ed.D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs at The Ohio State University. Before his current role, Ryan worked in Ohio State’s First Year Experience office and Dalton State College’s Office of Student Life. In his free time, Ryan enjoys going to movies, spending time at the gym, and exploring the Columbus food scene.


Maggie Kruth

Maggie oversees student recruitment, retention, and engagement for the departments of Teaching and Learning and Educational Studies.

Maggie received a B.A. in International Studies and a B.A. in Spanish Language and Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After attaining her M.S.Ed. from Johns Hopkins University in 2020, Maggie moved from K-12 to higher education. Maggie has been a part of the Buckeye family since August of 2021 working in the College of Arts and Sciences before moving to Education and Human Ecology. In her free time, Maggie enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling, playing sand volleyball, and spending time with her dog, Mango.


Jena Bernth

Jena oversees various aspects of academic program administration, including curriculum and enrollment support, as well as course scheduling for Educational Studies and Teaching and Learning.

Jena received a B.A. in Public Administration from Grand Valley State University and a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University. Jena first joined the College of Education and Human Ecology in 2013 – she briefly served as an Academic Counselor in University Exploration between 2014 and 2016 before returning to EHE in 2016. In her free time, Jena enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially her husband, daughter, and fur babies.


Tessa Mahler

Tessa oversees the admissions process for the department, along with general support to the Student Services office.

Tessa earned her B.S.Ed. in Middle Childhood Education from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. After teaching middle school language arts, Tessa obtained her M.Ed. in Higher Educational Administration and Student Personnel from Kent State University. Tessa has been with the College of Education and Human Ecology since 2020, recently transitioning from Teaching & Learning to Educational Studies. In her free time, Tessa enjoys spending time with her husband and son, reading, and baking.


Lakisha M. Mays

Lakisha’s primary responsibilities include providing administrative support for both faculty and students for the Ed.D. graduate programs and licensure programs, assisting with program assessment efforts, evaluating and tracking program data requests, assisting with refining and developing program policies, and planning events and workshops for Ed.D. students.

Lakisha received her B.S. in Psychology from The Ohio State University and her M.A. in Organizational Communications from Ohio University. Prior to working in Educational Studies, Lakisha worked as a Financial Aid Counselor in the Financial Aid Office at Columbus College of Art and Design, as an Admissions Counselor in the Graduate and Professional Admissions Office at The Ohio State University, and as a Graduate Program Coordinator at The Ohio State University. During her free time, Lakisha enjoys searching for unique food experiences and new travel opportunities.


Haley Booth

Registration and Records Specialist

Haley oversees course scheduling and enrollment for Educational Studies and Teaching and Learning.

Haley received a B.A. in Ancient History from The Ohio State University and a Master of Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) degree from Kent State University where she specialized in special collections, archives, cataloging, and collection management. Prior to working at OSU, she worked in Adult Services at the Columbus Metropolitan Library and as a Collection Manager/Museum Registrar at the Ohio History Connection. Haley began working at The James Cancer Hospital in 2020 before moving to the College of Education and Human Ecology in 2022. In her free time, Haley enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband, hiking with her dog, reading, and attempting to garden.
