Mandala: Color and Pattern

Project Statement

I wanted to create a mandala that showed directional movement not only through the different abstractions but also through the color. I used the abstractions by making them smaller to show movement as you look into the mandala it gets smaller, I used half circles to also show movement. As you look at the mandala the abstractions get smaller and the color gets lighter on my greyscale mandala and also the color mandalas. I used many colors and different compositions to try for my final production. I chose to use the pink and red monochromatic and the split complimentary greens and blues for my two final mandalas.

Reflection

What I learned during this project was how to create a mandala and how to properly add color using my value color mandala. I learned the background and the purpose of mandalas. I learned what abstractions were and how to use different tools on illustrator to create effects with the abstractions to use in our mandalas. I learned how to use the Adobe color wheel and also my favorite thing to learn was the different color schemes we can use for our mandalas.
