While in high school, one of my favorite activities included being a member of our Yearbook staff. During my junior year, I served as a contributor; taking pictures, making spreads, and interviewing students about their experiences. My senior year brought bigger and better opportunities as I stepped up to be our Yearbook Editor; which meant a lot of challenges in my leadership and organizational abilities. As Editor, I had to direct all contributors on which spreads they were to make, what dates their photo assignments were, and ways to make their spreads more unique and interesting. Not only did I learn leadership abilities, but also learned valuable media skills which included learning how to use a digital camera for high quality photos and working with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Looking back, I am so lucky to have had this experience as it truly helped me to develop my love for journalism, while also learning valuable skills along the way. Attached are some of the many spreads I designed during my time on the Yearbook staff.
