Spring 2019 Semester Review

During the 2019 spring semester, I continued my time as an Ohio State student, growing to love the university and people in it even more than I had ever thought. And not only did my love grow, but so did my involvement in new activities and especially jobs.

During this semester, I took a Television 1 class at Ohio State (Theatre 3351), which is where I was introduced to working in Ohio State Athletic Video. After hearing about the job, I was very quick to apply and then start as a Student Video Assistant. As a part of this job, I learned to how to work in a fast paced production environment, effectively use professional camera equipment, and operate Click Effects for Ohio State athletic events. Above are pictures of me using an under -the-basket camera during an OHSAA state basketball game. It was then from my love of my job with Ohio State Video Services that I learned of another job, helping work video with the Columbus Crew SC. In March 2019, I worked my first game with the Crew as a cable grip, then continued working with them throughout the spring and expanded my position to operating Show Control 2, Audio 2 and Field LEDs.

As the spring 2019 semester ended, I was sad to have to leave the city of Columbus, as I planned on moving back home for the 2019 summer. However, I was also so incredibly thankful, as I got to continue my position with Columbus Crew SC over the summer, driving up to Columbus for multiple different games. When I arrive back on campus in the Fall 2019, I also still plan to work for Ohio State Video Services and absolutely cannot wait.
