Talking Trash…Know Before You Throw!!

Keri Murphy Education and Outreach Coordinator at Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Recycling and Litter Prevention

Sometimes doing the “right thing” can cause more harm than good. Many materials we receive are not accepted at Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Recycling Facility. Recycling is not standardized in Ohio, which is why sometimes you can or cannot recycle certain items at different locations. In Fairfield County’s residential recycling bins, only plastics #1, plastics #2, cardboard, soda & food cans, paper and glass (certain locations) can be accepted. When recycling, pour materials directly into the bin. We do NOT want materials placed in trash bags as it slows down processing.
