Alex Durbin’s Sketch
Figure 1: Design A
I believe that this lightweight design provides the perfect balance between energy conservation and power. With a lighter weight, the AEV consumes less energy, as well as being about to move faster. The angled design on the wings causes the AEV to cut through the air more manageable, allowing for less air resistance. Having the battery and Arduino on opposite sides causes the weight to be centered. The negatives for this design include possibly not having enough space on the AEV to fit the wheel and Arduino on top due to the small base used. Another drawback to using this design would be that the AEV would have less power going in reverse since both propellers are facing the same direction forward.

Figure 2: Design B
I felt that this design would allow for secure coding as well as more aerodynamic features than the original. The pros of this design would include secure coding due to the propellors facing the same direction and the propellors being on the arm make the entire machine more aerodynamic. The cons of this design include the fact that this design does not differ from the original by a significant amount, meaning there is a high possibility of other plans being better options in the long run.

Figure 3: Design C
The idea behind this design is to make the AEV compact and achieve more exceptional aerodynamics with a slim body around the given parts. Pros of this design would be the compact structure, stability, and proposed aerodynamics plan. The air would be able to flow through the inside and around the body, cutting the air. One con would be deciding how to work with one fan on each side, where one could be on or two in different situations.

Figure 4: Design D
The idea behind this design was to provide an AEV that was balanced in weight and had plenty of room to work with on the base. Some pros of this AEV would be the high surface area, weight balance, and minimal blockage that this design provides. A con of this design would be the higher weight from the base in comparison to the other plans, requiring a bit more power to push it where it needs to go.
