Course Summary

For the last 7 weeks in the Keys to Academic Success for Online Learners Course, I was able to learn a lot of things. Mostly what I liked was being organized and following all of my tasks through different use of technology. This course provides different ways of learning things and choose which style is for you and what you prefer. Learning online is pretty challenging and confusing but being in this class specifically what I liked was the weekly discussion boards. Furthermore, my three takeaways from this class would be:

Learning how to use different technologies to improve my study habit better. The technologies that this course provided were study scheduler and Trello which both helped me a lot to stay on track and focus on what is due first. It reminded me if I am studying or not through the goals that I had set for each day. I really enjoyed using these two apps and will probably continue to do so to stay focus, organized, and on track.

Secondly, I learned to use the SMART method which is being specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time management on the goals that you set. Because of this method, I was able to set my study goals which helped me to stay focus on doing one thing at a time with a time limit and without getting any distractions. I chose a specific time and location where there will not be any noise that distracts me from studying. It helped me to stop procrastinating because being in an online course specifically and having a big family you want to spend most of your time with and sometimes you forget that you have an assignment due. So, I love to set goals properly using this method where I can spend my time with my family as well as finish my task ahead of time.

Lastly, I learned how to collaborate with each other on the discussion board. My previous courses were about designing, coding, and math where I didn’t really get to talk or even share my ideas with anyone. I didn’t had any friends in those courses because all of my friends are majoring in different fields. But being in this course, I was able to acknowledge the different ways of thinking that people have and the learning styles that each prefers. I was able to understand and accept the fact that we all have different ways of thinking and seeing things. It is okay to be different and there are no incorrect thoughts.
