Scholarship Opportunities in Astronomy

We are now soliciting applications for two scholarships in Astronomy.

Loren E. Bollinger – Kenneth E. Kissell Scholarship in the Department of Astronomy
The scholarship shall benefit junior or senior students in Astronomy who show a demonstrated interest in science writing. Recipients should be residents of the State of Ohio with a preference for students from the northeast quadrant of the State.  Scholarship recipients shall be chosen by the University Committee on Student Financial Aid, in consultation with the Chairperson of the Astronomy Department.
Tuttle Scholarship in Astronomy
This scholarship is open to majors in Astronomy and Astrophysics who have demonstrated a strong record of performance in classes or research.

To apply for either scholarship, compose a 300-word essay outlining your career directions and how the scholarship will help you advance in your studies.  Send this essay via email to Professor Terndrup at termdrup.1@osu.edu  For the Bollinger-Kissell Scholarship, please include a sample of your writing.

Students who are graduating in the Autumn 2016 semester or later are eligible.  Awarded funds are sent to the recipient’s student account, so in order to receive the scholarship there must be financial needs unmet by current sholarships.

The deadline for submission is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18.  Write to Professor Terndrup with any questions.
