- Video virtual visits (synchronous)
- E-visits, or “store and forward” information from a clinician (asynchronous)
- Mobile health (mHealth) which includes remote patient monitoring
- Provider to provider online consults (eConsults)
CONSIDERATIONS for the Provision of Care by Telehealth
Clinicians who are managing care using telehealth technologies through virtual video visits or e-visits:
- Follow license and prescribing requirements
- Ensure HIPAA compliance (using new guidelines)
- Ensure patient consent
- Have the skill and ability to effectively use the technologies
- Practice within their scope for telehealth services
- Deliver care following federal and state laws and rules
