Coasting vs. Power Braking

Our mission in advanced research and design was to test power braking and coasting. The power braking is when the motors reverse to slow the AEV to a stop. The coasting method is just the right amount of power to roll to a certain destination. The team has concluded which one to use going forward. While using power braking, the power usage on the AEV goes up by quite a bit, but the stopping distance is more consistent. When testing coasting the team noticed that the power usage is much lower, but there is inconsistencies in the stopping distances and can be unreliable. With this conclusion, the team had decided to use a mixture of the two methods. Power braking will be used to stop as the AEV reaches the destination and coasting will be used once enough power has been applied to keep the AEV moving.
