Along with the fact that the existing infrastructure could no longer tolerate drastic improvements and Columbus’s lack of an efficient mean of transportation, Team O under Bevis Incorporation came up with an unconventional solution to solve the local commuting problem. Inspired by both the Tokyo’s subway system and Dubai’s elevated metro grid, Team O found a solution that can be easily implemented into Columbus without any drastic changes: an above ground rapid transit metro.
Figure 3. Our rapid transit concept design.
Beams are to be build along the most popular routes within Columbus and the neighboring cities that would elevate the electric powered track above the ground. Furthermore, by adjusting the height of the beams , problems such as slopes and hills are easily fixed. Stops are to be located within evenly spaced intervals.
Pains Relieved
- Car collisions on the roads of Columbus.
- Arriving late due to road traffic.
- Weather dependency, travelling in dangerous conditions due to poor weather conditions.
- Inconvenience, roads can take a driver to different routes and become confusing to navigate.
Gaines Realised
- Introduces a highly efficient form of mass transportation to Columbus, Ohio.
- Improved Safety for Pedestrians.
- Less wear and tear on Columbus roads and infrastructure.
