Problem Definition Reflection

Our group has learned many things thus far within our project. Obviously we had known that living a life with one arm is very challenging. However, once we had begun the project and conducted research, we had began to grasp how challenging it really is and how people with one arm are not able to complete simple everyday tasks like opening a bottle or tying their shoes. We have learned that their are endless products that create solutions for the issues, but there is still always going to be plenty of room for improvement. We have also learned how having one arm is not only physically problematic, but it can be mentally as well. Often times people with disabilities like this, suffer from various mental disorders and go through life constantly battling frustration and embarrassment when they cannot complete simple tasks. Learning about these things has provided much clarity for our team at this point in the project because it has provided us the ability to attempt to relate to amputeeā€™s. The project has been going well so far, thanks to our findings through research and our attempts at using one hand performing various self-care activities. It has been a fun project, it is very interesting to see how what we have learned about the design process can be applied to the products we have researched and will continue to work on.
