Promotion & Scholarship
A large number of our faculty receive appointments in our Clinical Track. This clinical promotion and tenure (P+T) pathway offers three options that highlight different contributions: clinician investigator (traditional research and clinical trials), clinician educator (scholarship of teaching and education), and clinical excellence (innovative clinical programs). Given the large number of learners that we support, it is not surprising to find that clinical teachers belong to all three of these pathway options!
A general overview of the P+T process is provided by the College. Specific criteria are set by each department. We recommend that faculty explore the pathway, the three options and their criteria with one’s division director and mentors, to find the best fit. All faculty will need to have a teaching philosophy and keep records of teaching evaluations as part of their annual reviews and promotion.
