Coming up with an idea for this movie story was harder than I thought. I was talking to my boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend about it, Sidney, and she jokingly suggested making it about her cat, Cleo, who lives in Cleveland part time with our boyfriends. I thought about it for a couple minutes and even Nick said I should. I already had a ton of pictures and videos of her so I figured why not, its not like I had a better idea! Growing up, I never had a cat, I always had dogs, so this is the first time I am “raising” a cat. I wanted to make an actual story about her but I quickly realized how difficult it is to make a cat listen.

I started thinking about this movie more and decided to make it about her life. Nick, Ryan, Sidney and I are always wondering what Cleo’s thinking and saying things like “oh my god she probably thinks we’re so dumb” and stuff like that. So, I made a video “auto biography” on Cleo and her life. I got the whole timeline together and the order of the pictures and was really excited about it. I did add in a lot of transitions to kind of break it up and start a new part of the movie. Then, I remembered that I needed an animation, and panicked. I found a clip of her sitting and staring at nothing so I decided to add an animated mouse in. I made the mouse move around through key frames and it went really fast. The scene in itself is really fast but I didn’t know where else to animate it. Watching the movie now, I realize it is really corny but I think it turned out pretty cute! I swear I’m not a crazy cat lady!

For this blog post, I had to create a stop motion video and turn it into a story. Being super busy and sick for the past week and a half, unfortunately made me very lazy when it came to literally all my assignments. Not some of my proudest work but I figured it was the best I could do. When it came to the day I actually wanted to start this, Rachel told me no because it was almost midnight, she was half asleep and had no makeup on. So, Nick was my next option. It was very difficult to get full cooperation at first and to explain to him what exactly he had to do. We first decided on him doing a back flip. When he wrestled in high school, he would do a back flip right before the match started, it was a attention grabbing and intimidating. Since he can no longer do unlimited amounts of backflips at 23 years old, we decided on a baseball theme.

At this point, I didn’t care what the theme was, I just wanted full cooperation in what I was saying. Once I started taking the pictures, he still didn’t get the point that I had to take a ton of pictures of him, making very small movements. He finally got the concept down, and after 4 different baseball swings, almost 50 pictures for each, and multiple light changes, we finally got the end product. Since we just got filmed for an Indians commercial, it was a fun idea to have a baseball theme. I struggled making it in iMovie but after watching some tutorials after I made it and criticism from Nick, Ryan and Sidney, I got the end results to the best I could.

For my self portrait, I actually chose a photo of myself. It is one of my senior pictures and probably one of my favorites. I decided to create my self portrait that represented myself, what I love and believe in. I chose to go with flowers because I absolutely love flowers, to me, they’ve always symbolized love, freedom and natural beauty and I’ve always tried to bring that out in my self. I believe that I am always changing and finding more of myself and there are so many different kinds of flowers that I can represent myself as. Flowers are always blooming and I feel like I am too. I identify myself with love; for myself, my family, friends, boyfriend, coworkers, etc. It is important to me to love myself and the people who I care about. I love freedom and I have always wanted more and more of it. I couldn’t wait to get my driver’s license and a car and couldn’t wait to go to college.

When creating this, I first started with my body and found a picture of a bunch of flowers. I used the clone stamp to go over the ones I wanted and stamped it over my body. When this picture was taken, I was actually standing in a covered bridge, and so I didn’t want this portrait to look very harsh. So, I found sunflowers and traced the beams. I then decided that I wanted more of a floating look, since I feel like I do tend to float sometimes in life, so I thought it would be appropriate. I was going to add swirls into the background with paint but decided it looked weird so I used the smudge tool and thought it looked really cool. I then blurred out the sunflowers to add more representation on my actual self. I increased the exposure to brighten it up, as well.

For this blog post, I had to create a magazine cover. This photo was taken by myself on a beautiful Saturday morning, in my apartment. Rachel strolls in, well, shamefully walks in in last night’s outfit, smeared makeup and heels, giggling and still slightly drunk. I made her stand in her messy room to make this magazine cover because she inspired me! “I’m glad my walk of shame inspires you to do your homework”, Rachel said, laughing, in the middle of this.

So, I brightened up this picture, added a few color levels, and added word texts to it. I figured it would be best to make it a college based, female style magazine. I added things about fashion and studying tips. I also added the date at the bottom. I used this font because it looked classy and added some fun!

 

 

I think that I’ve had the most fun so far with this blog post! My boyfriend, Nick, his brother and their roommate helped me with this, the majority of the help was just commentary, but still effective. They thought it was so cool and had endless ideas of what to do and create.

I had to have Nick make a heart because duh love! His reaction to seeing the picture was “uh I am not that small”, I laughed and said it was normal. In their kitchen they have a green back light that they put up above their cupboards so his brother turned out to see how it would like. The green really pops and I love how it looked.

 

Nick loves pineapples so he had to try to make one. It actually turned out surprisingly well and we were all pretty impressed! Again, the green background, still loving how it looks.

 

 

All three of the guys decided to make OSU with their phone lights and a flashlight. I really didn’t mind what they did, it was fun to do and watch! I filled in more of the “O” in OSU and erased some of the random lines in all the letters. I added vibrances and a fun filter that I thought related most to the picture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nick was spinning around with a flashlight, just to see how it would turn out and this is one of my favorites. I really liked this one with the light spots that appeared from the light. I photoshopped it, put a higher exposure on it, added a higher vibrance level on it, and then put the stained glass filter on it. I thought the original picture had a ghostly look to it so I thought that the stained glass gave it the same effect with the uneven, swirly effects and the floating look, as well.

For my blog post, I made my roommate/ best friend, Rachel model for me, which she was eagerly willing to do. So here is my favorite photo from the golden light hour. The first is edited, the second one isn’t.

 

The second photo I used was in harsh lighting. Obviously it isn’t super flattering with awkward light on her face, along with shadows. It made her face really shiny and glowing and not in a good way. It was kind of bright in her eyes, which made her a tad squinty.

The third photo I took of Rachel was in soft lighting. It was taken on our balcony and the sun wasn’t out as much. It is a little shady, and not as bright and flattering. Obviously she still looks gorgeous but golden hour lighting is still much better on her face, skin and hair.

The fourth photo I took of Rachel was during the golden hour, I love her in this lighting. And it was much more fun taking golden hour pictures! The first one isn’t edited yet. The second one is edited and I decided to poke some fun at her crazy party days.

 

I’m using this photograph I took at the Columbus Zoo as an open composition picture. I thought that this represented my identity by my love for animals and zoos. As much as I wish these animals could be out in the wild and roaming free, I know that they are much better protected and taken cared for in zoos.

 

 

I’m using this photograph as a thirds composition picture. I chose this to represent my identity for a couple of reasons. One being that I love food. The second reason is because I love food, even more when my boyfriend makes it for me, so why not just capture a picture of it?! And the third reason why I chose this to represent my identity is because I love eating and interacting with anyone, I believe that food helps create a bond between people and I love embracing that.

 

 

I’m using this photograph as a symmetrical composition picture. I recently bought these glass markers the other day and have thought that they are hilarious. So, I had to use them in a post. I also really like how the carpet reflects into the glass, especially at the top of the water line. There are also two other guys to go along with them. Chuck and Billy have been making all my girl friends laugh, so that’s one reason why I had to use them to represent my identity. I love laughing and making people laugh, whether its from my terrible, cheesy jokes or from cowboy glass markers.

 

 

I’m using this photograph of a mini plant as my closed composition picture. I struggled to find something to use since being at my boyfriend’s house all weekend with two other guys living here, there wasn’t anything cute to capture that represented my identity. But, this plant has been sitting right in front of me the whole time. Nick has been low key obsessed with this plant since I met him. It is looking a little rough right now but I starting thinking about it and how it did represent my identity. Watching Nick water this plant and move it around the house for the past 9 months, never giving up on this little plant he paid $8 for, I realized I related to it. This plant represents my life right now. My life has been rough lately and I’m still trying to grow, while being taken care of by someone else. The plant has seen better days, as well as myself. Of course, Nick takes care of me better than the plant, but I now look at the plant completely differently after comparing it to my own life.

I chose a picture of the yummy pancakes at Sloopy’s to use as my under and over exposed photos. These pictures don’t do them justice as to how good they were. My roommate and I love Sloopy’s, especially when she still had her meal plan. I think every OSU student has been there, and if not, it is recommended, especially if you want some comfort food. While being there, you can see groups/clubs meeting there, dates and a place where friends can meet up for any meal of the day. I think Sloopy’s is definitely a part of the identity at Ohio State.

 

 

 

The next photo I used for warm and cooler temperature changes was taken outside the RPAC as the sun was setting. I personally like the cooler temperature photo the best. I think the RPAC and the towers are part of an identity at Ohio State. I’m sure almost every student has been to the RPAC to workout, if not, another gym. The towers have always been a point of direction for myself and I’m sure for others, as well. Growing up on Lake Erie, I thought there was never another place that had beautiful sunsets, but Columbus is convincing me other wise. Same sunset, different style.

 

 

 

The first free edit photo I used was taken inside Thompson Library of the Stadium. I love going to the top floors of the library and seeing the view. I did add brightness and a red tint to it, along with a few other colors. I think the colors are pretty fitting for the picture. I think the Thompson Library and the stadium are great examples of identity at Ohio State. From football games to finals in the library, both events are equally important in every Ohio State student’s semester.

 

 

The second free edit photo I used is a picture of my boyfriend and I on my apartment building roof (not sure if we were even allowed up there). In the background, you can see the city skyline, which I love seeing. I used the dodge tool to clear out some stains on the rooftop and increased the brightness to make us look like we were just on white ground. I added a red hue into this, as well, since red is a romantic color. I did erase the red out of us and I also erased the brightness from the skyline.

I think that the City of Columbus and the skyline or view is relatable to every student. It’s beautiful, mysterious, point of direction, and full of opportunities. I personally love skylines and driving into cities where you can see majority of the tall buildings.

 

 

 

 

I decided to make my first blog post on the Huff Post. I like that they kind of have dramatic, bold fonts and pictures as the first thing you see on their website. Right now, Donald Trump is pictured with an article about the issues with North Korea. One thing I don’t like about their website is that to access different categories of articles, you have to scroll all the way down to find the one you want. I would personally put different categories in sections at the top of the home page.
